Justin Bieber’s Popular Perfume Someday Supports Nonprofit Fundraising and Earns FiFi Honours

At just 18 years of age, Justin Bieber has already established himself as both an international teen sensation and generous supporter of nonprofit fundraising. He was one of The Top Internet and Online Search Rankings in 2011 and also one of the 20 Celebrities Doing Good to Benefit Nonprofit Fundraising & Missions in 2011. Now, he is being honoured with a FiFi® Award for his contribution to the fragrance industry for his philanthropic perfume Someday.justin-bieber-someday-nonprofit-fundraising-perfume

The Canadian pop star released the scent in June 2011 and proceeded to shatter sales records by reaching the $3 million mark within three weeks of launch. All proceeds from the sale of the popular perfume go to the two causes he regularly supports: Pencils of Promise and Make a Wish Foundation.

The FiFi® Awards were conceived in 1973 by Annette Green, President Emeritus of The Fragrance Foundation, as a way honoring the fragrance industry’s creative achievements. The awards are now known as the Oscars of the fragrance industry and this year’s star-studded ceremonies were hosted by Golden Globe and Emmy winning actress, Glee star Jane Lynch. Celebrities in attendance at the event included: Good Morning America’s Sam Champion, Mariska Hargitay, Josh Groban, Fashion Star’s Nicole Richie, and the granddame of good things Martha Stewart.

The fragrance foundation was “established in 1949 by six industry leaders affiliated with Elizabeth Arden, Coty, Guerlain, Helena Rubenstein, Chanel and Parfums Weil, to develop educational programs about the importance and pleasures of fragrance for the American public.

The Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award honours a celebrity who has embraced and promoted the fragrance industry. This award was won by Fergie in 2011 for her Avon scent, Outspoken. Heidi Klum also won an award at the event for her perfume Shine. Other nominated celebrities included Christina Aguilera for Royal Desire, Fergie for Avon scent, Outspoken Intense, Beyonce’s Pulse and Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift.

While Bieber couldn’t make it to the award ceremony he made his acceptance speak via telecast saying, “I’m honored to be named Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year. It means a lot to me that my fans and The Fragrance Foundation support all my accomplishments. The best part is that my favourite charity is sharing in the success; it is important to pay it forward. Plus I have the girls smelling great.” He also thanked Give Back Brands saying, “I partnered with the Give Back Brands who helped me a lot with the different charities that I’m giving to.

Give Back Brands mission is to collaborate with top entertainers and celebrities to make high quality beauty products, which benefit worthy causes.

Bieber’s popularity is evident in his social media presence as he has the second most followers on Twitter (Mother Monster herself Lady Gaga ranks first) and his videos have broken and set YouTube records. Even with the tremendous success he has achieved at such a young age, he hasn’t forgotten his humble beginning in Stratford, Ontario and has made giving back to charity a priority.

Bieber is making supporting nonprofit fundraising efforts cool which influences and inspires his fan base to follow suit. For FiFi to honour the success of his perfume and its sales when every sale contributes to two very worthy causes adds to the value of the honour.

The Fifi Awards celebration continues through to tomorrow May 31, 2012 with the FiFi Online Charity Auction benefiting Adopt The Arts and the National Center for  Lesbian Rights. There are 28 amazing items and experiences on auction including fashion items and shows, cosmetics, perfumes, spas, portraits, ballet, golf and even a New York Yankees game.
